weight loss

I am frustrated. Jackson has been steadily losing weight for a while. He is eighteen months old and only 13 lbs and 14 oz. About six months ago he was 16 lbs. The next time we checked he was 14 lbs. 6 oz. then todays weigh in was the 13 lbs and 14 oz. I have been trying to get a nutritionist to see him. Apparently that takes an act of congress. His pediatrician who I thought I loved in starting to frustrate me too. he said that Jackson could move to a new formula called next steps because he is older. I looked at the ingredients and they are the same as what he gets now. I'm not sure how that is supposed to help. Those of you who have tube fed babies please direct me. What type of feeding schedule do you have. I think I am starving him but how am I supposed to know.

I can't believe he's already 18 months! Sorry I can't be any help to you on the feeding thing. Mine won't drink any liquids unless it's something WE are drinking....he only wants to drink out of my water bottle or Stephen's coke, etc. He won't drink his milk or juice. There's always something, right?

My Alex is tube fed. He is on Peptamin Jr. He gets 30z 3 x a day, usually at 10, 3, and 6. Then the majority of his feed is a night through a pump. He gets 285 cc's at night at a rate of 51. He also gets about 18 oz of water in a 24 hour period.
We have a nutritionist through early intervention. All the speech therapists we have seen like to have one on their team to help guide them with the eating stuff.
Feel free to email me with questions.

sorry that first number is wrong. He gets 90cc's or 3 oz three times a day.

Makily is on Nutren Jr and it is higher calorie.

This is her feeding schedule. Her weight TOOK OFF once we got her on this schedule and on the higher cal formula.

8pm continuous feed all night at rate of 60cc/hr for total of 500 cc's. This typically goes in over 9 or 10 hours.

She gets 3-4 more feeds during the day. They are typically spaced 4 hours apart. She gets 125/cc OVER an hour's time.

Her weight has been 33 lbs for a while and at this point since she isnt walking I am not wanting her to gain to fast. She is not malnourished though and is getting the appropriate amount of calories per the nutritionist. We go back in a few months for them to re-eval her.

I am so sorry you are having such a rough time getting into the nutritionist. OUr gastro dr has one in his office and that is who we see every time. It was super convenient.

I know how frustrating the weight issue is. Makily was like 15 lbs at Jackson's age. (which is crazy when J is 19 lbs at 10 months ack!). Hang in there. I know it's hard.
